Welcome
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. See http://www.kiwanis.org to read our blog.  For exciting information about "Celebrating 25 years of Women in Kiwanis" see http://www.kiwanisone.org

Chartered on April 3rd, 1922, the Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville has thirty-eight members who come from many different backgrounds and are all dedicated to fulfilling our motto: "Serving the Children of the World."  Contact us at any time: Jim Hart, 434-971-2094, jhart46201@aol.com and "Like us" on Facebook. And mail to P.O. Box 6698, Charlottesville VA  22911-6698.

The Club sponsors five Key Clubs in area high schools (Albemarle High School, Monticello High School, Western Albemarle High School, Charlottesville High School, and Fluvanna County High School), a CKI Club at the University of Virginia, and a K-Kids Club at Venable Elementary School.  More than 400 youth are engaged in programs that teach leadership skills and perform meaningful community service projects.

The Charlottesville Club is one of more than 180 Kiwanis Clubs in the Capital District, providing community service throughout Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia. See their web site at:  http://www.capital.kiwanisone.org/public_district/index.aspx

Division 5 of the Capital District has clubs in: Charlottesville, Alleghany Highlands, Harrisonburg, Lexington, Shenandoah Valley, Staunton, and Waynesboro.

Division 5 along with Division 19, with clubs in Blue Ridge, Clarke County, Front Royal, and Winchester, constitute the Presidential Region of the Capital District.

The Charlottesville Kiwanis Club meets on the first, second, and third Mondays of every month at 6:30 p.m.   The fourth Monday, and the occasional fifth Monday, have been designated as "Service Work Night" at a different local agency each month.  Guests are cordially invited to share a meal with us and learn about opportunities to join us for volunteer community service that contributes to the betterment of our community.  See our meeting schedule, calendar, and newsletters for the latest information about when and where we gather "to serve the children of the world."

Kiwanis International was founded in Detroit, Michigan in 1915. There are over 350,000 Kiwanians and more than 600,000 K-Family members in 84 countries around the world.  KI's current world service project in conjunction with UNICEF aims to Eliminate Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus (MNT) from the face of the earth.  This project follows KI's previous successful project, also with UNICEF, of eliminating Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDD) from the face of the earth.  See:  http://www.TheEliminateProject.org or  http://sites.kiwanis.org/Kiwanis/en/discover/Our-work/eliminating-maternal-neonatal-tetanus.aspx
